Application portal for “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) Aptitude Test 2020 to be held on 31st January, 2021; is now open from 06th September, 2020 and the last date for online application is 05th October, 2020. KVPY Aptitude Test is used to screen out the potential candidates for KVPY Fellowship Award so as to encourage the students to take up research career in Science.

The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to encourage students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in Science. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research.

About KVPY Aptitude 2020 Test: Applicant Stream, Eligibility and Conditions for the grant of Fellowships.

KVPY Aptitude Test will be conducted online by IISC, Bangalore. Application can be done in any of the 3 Streams: SA, SX and SB (whichever is applicable); eligibility for which is shown as under:

 

Applicant Stream Eligibility Conditions for the grant of Fellowships
Stream SA: For XI standard /(+1) Science Students Enrolled in AY 2020-21. Applicants must have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the

X-Standard Board examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude Test.

 The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in

the XII Standard /(+2) Board Examination.
Stream SX: For XII standard /(+2) Science Students Enrolled in AY 2020-21. Must secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X-Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science

(B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in

aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination.
Stream SB: For First Year students enrolled in B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2020–21

 

 Must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST&PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology)  in the XII Standard Board Examination  are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in the 1st year Final Examination

of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.

 

Subjects of Stream SB Candidates: Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science are eligible for KVPY fellowship.

How to Apply: Application to KVPY 2020 is to be done online only.

There are three steps to complete your application successfully.

Step  1. Registration

Step 2. Filling personal and academic details, choosing test centres, and uploading photo (less than 150 KB), signature (less than 80 KB) and other certificates, as applicable. The SC/ST and PWD candidates must upload scanned copy of caste (SC and ST) and medical certificate (for PWD) in PDF format (less than 300 KB).

Step 3. Payment of application fees.  Please note that you must pay the application fee only at the KVPY application portal. This can be done by using a Credit Card, ATM-Debit Card or Net Banking. No other means of payment will be accepted.  Once the payment is successful and application is submitted, no refund of application fee will be done

Application fees for KVPY-2020:

For General/OBC Category: Rs. 1250,

For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 625 (Bank Charges extra)

Mode of KVPY Aptitude Test 2020: Test will be held Online on 31st January, 2021, across various cities in India.

Fellowship: Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

SA/SX/SB  – during  M. Sc. / 4th to 5th  years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. Rs. 7000

+ Rs. 28000 Annual contingency Grant

KVPY FELLOWSHIP 2020 WILL BE AWARDED SOLELY BASED ON APTITUDE TEST.

NO INTERVIEWS WILL BE CONDUCTED THIS YEAR (2020).
